The scanner
I kept running the same audit by hand. On my family's shop. On my own site. On every site I look at for someone. Same six checks every time. At some point the obvious thing stares back at you: the checklist is the tool. So I built it.
The AI Readiness Scanner is a free page on my site. You paste in two files from your own website (it shows you exactly where to find them, no technical background needed), and it hands you a score out of 100 plus your fix list, ordered by what is worth the most points. It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing gets uploaded, and no AI writes your report. It is a checklist with a scoreboard.
What it checks
Six things decide whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini can read your business:
Your robots.txt lets the AI crawlers in
You have an llms.txt file telling engines who you are
Your homepage carries entity schema (the machine-readable "who is this business")
You have FAQ schema (the thing answer engines quote word for word)
Store pages carry product and review schema
Your homepage says what you sell in plain words a customer would type
The receipt
I ran it on my own site first. 83 out of 100. The fix list pointed at one gap: no FAQ schema. So I built the FAQ section, shipped it the same night, and ran the scanner again. 100 out of 100. Same site, same day, and the tool that measured the before is the tool that measured the after. That is the whole method I sell: measure, fix, re-measure, show the receipt. It just happened to my own site in public, and the scanner you are about to run is the one that proved it.
The honest fine print
This is version one, the paste-in edition. You bring the files, it does the reading. A version where you just type your web address and it fetches everything itself needs a small piece of server plumbing, and it is on the bench. When it ships, same address.
Run the scanner, then hit reply and tell me your score. Lowest score gets my sympathy and, if you want it, the first fix explained for free. I read every reply.
